Winter has most definitely reached Salisbury now. If your thoughts are already turning to warm weather, next year’s wildflowers, and improving those ID skills, then why not take a look at the Identiplant course.
If you want to be able to identify wild plants correctly, gain experience in using a Flora, and find out about botanical keys, then this course could be the answer! It is a distance learning course with a difference – course units are delivered online but you practise real plant identification throughout the summer with the support of a local tutor.
All of the information, including how to apply can be found on the course website – http://identiplant.co.uk/plant2015wp/ the application form opens on Dec 1st and will remain open until January 2017.
If you have been an NPMS volunteer for the 2015 and/or 2016 survey season then you also qualify for the low volunteer rate of just £100 (a great discount on the normal fee of £300!).
Lots of our volunteers have taken part in previous years and have had wonderful things to say about the quality of the course and how much it has improved their ID confidence. The fact that you are already participating in the NPMS also means that you will have lots of opportunities to use your new found skills throughout the year, and further reinforce your learning.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the NPMS team!
